Fokus

Fokus is the student guild for social and public policy, sociology and social work. The guild is an active student organization, independent from the university. All our activities are made by students for fellow students, and our parties and get-togethers are free of charge.

International students are welcome participants in all activities organized by Fokus. We have a wide variety of activities:

• Culture events, like visiting theatres and exhibitions in Jyväskylä, or even further. For example, excursion 2009 heads for Prague, through Poland and the Baltic states. 
• Parties for new students and exchange students.
• Holiday season parties like Christmas party and 1st of May. A Post-exam hangover sauna party (tedarit) is held in Kortepohja after the faculty exam in the last friday of the month.
• Sport events which don't require any previous experience. Ultimate, indoor football and floorball are played regularly every week. Tuesdays are our traditional spotrs day.
• Our own magazine: Fogue, feel free to write there if you have something to say.

As an international student you don't need to pay any membership fee, so join freely with us natives! We really want you to come along!

Fokus does NOT automatically receive information from the University staff about international students beginning their studies in Jyväskylä, because we work independently from the University. We also do not receive your email address automatically. We hope, that you would take contact with us as soon as you arrive in Jyväskylä, because we might not be able to do that!
